It has definitely been a while since I have written a Sibling Moment Monday post. If you are unfamiliar with these posts feel free to view more here.
I decided to write this post about a moment between my children that has never happened before. One day recently I was washing the dishes when my son stood beside me and began to hug me. Of course, I love these moments when it is just me and him. They don’t happen too often now since he is not the only child anymore. That is why I definitely cherish them when they do. However, that mother-son moment didn’t last long because in walks my one-year-old daughter. As of late, she has become very vocal as her vocabulary has started to increase. As I was continuing to wash the dishes and my son still had his arm wrapped around me, I hear my daughter yelling at the top of her lungs, “MINE! MINE! MINE!” I glance back to see that she is right behind me. But, I am dumbfounded that she does not have a toy in her hand because this is usually when she starts to talk about what is considered to be hers. Then I notice that she is actually pulling on my son’s arm that isn’t wrapped around me. My son becomes bothered, but he doesn’t let her pull him from me. She is very persistent and goes for his hand that is wrapped around me, all the while screaming, “MINE! MINE! MINE!” So then I tell her, “I’m not just your mom, I’m your brother’s mom too. You have to share me.” In which she replies, “NOOOOO! MINE!”
To end this tug-o-war, I picked her up and hugged my son at the same time.It was funny seeing my daughter react this way. She’s so small, and yet she was yelling so loudly to try and get her point across. I have to say I loved this moment, even though my children weren’t too thrilled with each other at the time. I couldn’t stop smiling at the way that they showed their love for me.
